About Me

My name is Jim Duncan. I have a degree in Psychology and Master’s Degree in Social Work. To be clear, I am not a licensed social worker or therapist. I’ve done public speaking on domestic violence in the past, but I arrived at sleep wellness out of my wellness research. I come to this looking to put my knowledge and desire to do something that helps people live healthier, happier lives to good use. I get great satisfaction being a resource, a support, and helping people succeed. Note: the information provided on my site is for informational and educational purposes only.

Copywriting about health and wellness requires an adherence to a scientific standard. A lot of information and advice out there is not backed by solid, scientific research, but this isn’t to say it’s not worthwhile information or advice. I do my research, and write copy that is honest about where it is coming from.

I consult with individuals about sleep wellness. While this touches on many aspects of a person’s life, I believe that sleep is a cornerstone, along with nutrition and exercise, that provides the basis for a healthier, happier life. I am not a nutritionist or fitness coach. There are no certifications currently for sleep that are meaningful for sleep consultation unless it’s for medical purposes to diagnose and treat a sleep disorder. That is not what I do.

I do adhere however, to a code of ethical conduct that any board certified health coach would be required to. My goal is to help people who have issues falling and staying asleep, address non-medical issues, devise, implement, and be accountable to a plan of action that will help them fall asleep and stay asleep for a full night’s rest.

The more I research, the more I realize that our workforce is not knowledgeable about the effects and potential harm of sleep deprivation. I was one of those people. I worked many years on off shifts in the manufacturing sector. Not once was I informed about sleep in all of those years. So, I would like to change that. Often, all it takes is an awareness of the problem for people to take action. When someone realizes that their ongoing 5 hours of sleep on worknights, may be the cause or contributing factor to their health problems, I want to be there for them to tell them what they can do about it.

I fully believe it’s a public health issue that needs addressing. That is why I’ve developed this education and training for businesses to provide their workers with valuable insights and hopefully inspire them to make changes that benefit themselves as well as the company they work for.
